Findings from researches

The curiosity about the healing powers of oxytocin is increasing, and numerous studies are conducted across the world to understand its beneficial effects.  The result of a small clinical trial that appeared as part of the proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences has revealed that some children who have autism experienced improvement in social skills when putting on oxytocin.  Studies have shown that oxytocin enhances social behavior among animals. These findings have encouraged the scientific community to explore the possibilities of using oxytocin for the treatment of autism that turns children reclusive.

How much oxytocin is helpful?

Accepting the effectiveness of oxytocin in the treatment of autism, it is essential to ascertain what levels of the hormone in the body is optimal to evoke the best response. Researches have been carried out to understand how the response of children could vary with changes in the level of the hormone oxytocin. Before the treatment when the level of oxytocin was low; the improvement of social skills was higher. The finding has led to more researches to find out the optimal level of oxytocin that would trigger better social behavior among children who have autism.

A statistical model of oxytocin level shows encouraging results

For the trail with oxytocin nasal spray 34 children with autism between 6 to 12 years were selected. A group of 16 children was administered the nasal spray twice a day for two weeks while they gave a placebo to treat the other group. The researchers measured the level of oxytocin in the children before and after the trial and even measured their social responsiveness corresponding to it.  By looking at the results of the social responsiveness scale (SRS), it appeared that there was no significant improvement but when analyzed in conjunction with the level of oxytocin the improvement was quite substantial.

Since it is easy to administer the hormone in the form of nasal spray, it is the most popular dosage form. Some sprays use a specially formulated liquid that protects fragile Oxytocin and delivers Oxytocin by overcoming then blood-brain barrier.

While more studies are required to establish the efficacy of oxytocin for the treatment of autism, the progress made so far is quite encouraging.

Make it Generally Safer

There are many risks around the home, and you should work on eliminating as many of them as possible before your new baby comes home. You should look to get rid of any of the things that might be dangerous for a small child. They’ll be crawling around on the floor in no time, so it is worth thinking about these things now, even if it seems early to do so. A safer home is a more child-friendly home.

Clean it Up

Do you really want to welcome your new child into a messy and untidy home? Of course not. And your job as a parent will only be harder if you make the mistake of leaving things messy. Your life is about to get very busy and probably quite stressful in some ways, so being able to navigate your home in an easy and straightforward way will actually be quite valuable.

Get Ready to Up Your Laundry Game

There’s about to be more laundry getting done in your home. Babies cause a surprising amount of mess for something so small, so you should definitely start thinking about how you’re going to manage all that. If you have an older washer and dryer, you might want to upgrade these now so they don’t end up breaking down on you after the baby arrives. It’ll save you a lot of bother.

Buy New Furniture for the Nursery

You are of course going to need to prepare the nursery room for the baby. This is where the baby will sleep and where their toys and other things will be stored for the foreseeable future. The Nursery furniture collection form Cuckooland could be worth looking at if you want to buy unique and practical items for the nursery. Just make sure it’s all done before the baby arrives and not after.

Find Ways to Make the Home Quieter

Your life will be a lot easier if your home is relatively quiet and peaceful while they baby is there. It’s going to be hard enough to get into a regular sleeping routine because you’ll be up in the night taking care of the baby. So anything that stops him or her from waking up in the middle of the night has to be a good thing. Try to do everything you can to eliminate excessive noise before this arrival.

Remove Anything Breakable or Sharp

Once your child is able to crawl around, they’ll be grabbing things and generally doing their best to become a destructive force in your home. Be ready for that by removing things that are potentially breakable, as well as anything that’s sharp and might hurt the baby if it falls on him or her. Those things can be packed away and brought back out when they’re older.

Block Up Plug Sockets

Finally, you should think about what you’re doing to do with plug sockets. Of course, no parent wants their small child to be messing with sockets because they’re very dangerous. The thing is, they’re at the right kind of height for children to poke and prod at. So cover them up with child safety covers and ensure they never get hurt in this way in your home.

Preparing your home for the arrival of your new baby is something you shouldn’t skip over. You will only make your life more difficult later, so get this stuff out of the way now so that it doesn’t bother you when the baby is actually here. Each of the ideas will help you to make your home just as it should be in time for that arrival.

Your Money & Your Expected Child: The Balance

If you are currently expecting a child, then you will already be well aware that there are many
things you will need to consider in order to make sure you make the most of the situation at
hand. It can be almost impossible to consider everything that there is to consider, but with a
careful approach you should be able to at least improve the likelihood of the situation going to
plan. One of the major aspects of this will always be money, as you need to
ensure that your financial concerns are well dealt with too. But what do you actually need
to do to make sure that your finances are dealt with around this time? Let’s look at some
of the basics.

Budgeting Far Ahead

The truth is, it takes the ability to think far ahead to even deal with the here-and-now of having a child.
You will need to think about all of the things which you might need to focus on even in the future,
and you will immediately be hit by just how many things that truly is. It is not too early to start
thinking about their college fund, for example, or how you are going to afford all of the diapers, food
and so on while they are still a baby. I  checked out best breast pump reviews to find one that could help us save money!
but the sooner that you budget for all of this, the sooner you will be
able to feel as though you are truly prepared for your child to arrive, at least financially. There is no such thing
as going in too detailed when it comes to budgeting, so just make sure that you think of everything
that you possibly can.

Expecting The Unexpected

Usually when things go wrong financially, it is because of something unexpected occurring.
And when you have a child appearing into the mix, unexpected things can suddenly happen
all of the time. It is therefore wise to try your best to expected to be surprised, and to plan
for the things you can’t really plan for. This means, most of all, being aware of what dangers
and trials there are likely to be in the early days, as well as being aware of some of
the less common – and by that token, more worrisome – things that can go wrong during
childbirth itself and in the early years of bringing up your child. There might be time when you
will need to enlist the help of a birth injury lawyer like Gray and White Law just to get by. In
either case, it is useful to be prepared for all the things which can end up costing you more
money, as in that way you can at least take the best step when those things do occur.

Finding The Right Help

Nobody can be entirely immune from needing some help from time to time – ut what you can do
is make sure that you are going out of your wy to find the right help, and to utilize it
at the right time. Whatever friends and family you might have are likely to be useful at
certain times, and there is an art to knowing when to use their help and when not to worry about it.
As long as you utilize the right kind of help at the right time, you will find that the whole
process of having a child and looking after your finances is made much easier. Don’t be ashamed
if you ever need to ask for help – most people do at some point or another. There is no shame in it;
it’s just a part of the process for practically everyone. Finding the right help is in itself a valuable
skill which can help you to keep going in times of sheer adversity.

Putting The Baby First

Something no mother needs to be told is that the baby always comes first no matter what. So whatever financial issues you might be having, you will always have the instinct to look after your baby first and foremost, and that is what will always come out on top. This is a good point to remember, because it means that you will always be sure to make the right decisions when times get tough. Balancing your money and your baby concerns can always be tough, but as long as you retain this basic sense of what is necessary, you can ultimately be sure to make the right decisions, and that is what matters at the end of the day.
