The Make Ahead Kitchen by Annalise Thomas/Cookbook Review

I am always looking for new recipes, especially with the kids being home for the summer. I am running out of ideas on what to make each day, normally we have quick breakfasts because we are all running around trying to all get ready for the day. I do enjoy more laid back days where I have more time to try new recipes and that is why I was excited to get a chance to review The Make Ahead Kitchen cookbook by Annalise Thomas.

Ok let me show you what I got

ASPCA Kids Rescue Readers Books Review & Giveaway #MomsMeet #studiofun

My kids love reading books, every night before they go to bed they read a couple books. They both also have to read books for school. We also love pets we have a dog and a cat and I love to support companies and charities that help pets.

I was so excited to get chosen to read, review and giveaway some ASPCA Rescue Readers books through MomsMeet.

ASCPA Rescue Readers

Let me tell you a little bit about Studio Fun and their partnership with ASPCA. They published  a children’s book series called ASPCA kids Rescue Readers.  Each story is inspired by a real-life animal rescue story from the pet’s point of view and include facts and photographs of the actual pet that inspired the story.

Each book creates a fun and educational hands on experience written at a Level 2 reading level for early readers. There is a letter to parents in the front of the book that give you some ideas on what you can do with your kids . (ex. sound out the words, take a picture walk  to preview the story)

Four to five percent of the purchase price of every book goes directly to the ASPCA to help continue the mission.

My kids absolutely loved the books. My son read the Superman book right away and my daughter wanted me to read all of the books as she looked at the pictures as I read them. The Rescue Readers books would make great gifts for all children.

Sliding in the Snow

It is already starting to get cold here in Iowa, actually this week there is a chance for snow. I love the look of snow it is so pretty, however I don’t like driving in snow.  But there is so much fun stuff to do in the snow and in the winter.

My son’s favorite part of winter is sledding, he has so much fun. I love having hot cocoa especially after sledding to warm you right up. My daughter loves to make snowflakes.

So I was really excited when I got to read Sliding in the Snow by Melissa Dymock and write a review. This book is so much fun it has so many great activities to do in the snow.

Sliding in the Snow

The book starts out talking about safety in the snow (before you go outside, checklist of what you should have to go outside, and more.

Here are a couple more fun activities in Sliding in the Snow

  • make a snowflake
  • snow words(crossword)
  • ice ribbons
  • winter olympics (luge, hockey, and more)
  • and even more fun activities

In the end of the book there are some Winter Recipes

  • brownie in a mug
  • popcorn over the fire
  • homemade hot cocoa
  • snow ice cream
  • snow candy

I made the homemade hot cocoa recipe. Oh my it is so good. I can’t wait to make the brownie in a mug and all of the other recipes.

My family is going to have so much this winter doing all of the activities out of Sliding in the Snow. You can purchase your own copy on Amazon for $7.99 or on Kindle for $4.99. Order it here.

Money Making Mom

I have been a stay at home mom for seven years and I have also been blogging for five years. When people would ask me where I work at I would always say I am a stay at home mom. This year my youngest started Kindergarten and I really struggled and still kind of struggle with what I want to do now that both if my kids are in school most of the day.

I never really considered blogging a job, I have not made a lot of money blogging, but I also haven’t put it a ton of effort trying to make money on my blog. I started blogging because I wanted to share with people how they can save their family money, not really thinking about making money off of my blog.

Just recently when people asked me what I do for a living I started saying I work from home as a blogger. Until I read Money Making Mom by Crystal Paine I never thought of blogging as a job. It helped me realize that I need to put more work into my blog and start making money from blogging. Blogging is something I really enjoy and love to help people save money.

Money Making Mom

I got a chance to be on the launch team for Money Making Mom so I got an advanced copy of the book. You can preorder the book now, it comes out on November 3rd and you get some great freebies if you preorder by November 2nd.

  •  An Exclusive Live Q&A Call—an invitation to join Crystal for a special Q&A call to ask any of your Money-Making Mom questions

Let me tell you a little bit about this great inspirational book. There are so many great quotes. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Live simply so that others can simply live

Whatever you do show up and give it your all the rest will follow

Don’t give up; persistence always pays off

Express gratitude, it changes the whole outlook on life and your business

May your life be a force that channels change in this world

Money Making Mom is full of inspirational stories of woman of how woman used their passion to create jobs/careers. All of the stories are so inspirational and will help you realize that you can do anything you put your mind to and to do what you love.

You can’t do everything at once, the best way to avoid getting burned out or stuck is stick with one action item. When you are comfortable with your pace and progress then continue to the next step. Crystal also lists out building blocks for an action plan.

There is also ideas on how make money from home such as Virtual Assistant, surveys, mystery shopping and more. Never be afraid to try something new, remember amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic.

Say to yourself- I am enough, I was created for a purpose.

There is also a chapter about giving, and she gives several ides on how you can do that. Such as supporting a local charity, donate food to your local food pantry and donate food or toiletries to a homeless shelter.

I really enjoyed reading Money Making Mom I think it is going to help so many people realize their passions and inspire them to do something about it and start making money doing what you love.

Hydrating mask– take a thick layer of the original formula body cream and slather it on your face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then remove using a warm wash cloth. Afterwards your skin will feel so soft and moisturizing.

I plan on doing this a lot in winter. my skin gets so dry in the winter from wind and cold.

Plan out your days/weeks with Mary Organizes Planner(review)

Every year one of my New Years resolutions is to get more organized. I am continually working on getting more organized and using a planner is a great way to do that.

I was excited when I got the opportunity to review a Mary Organizes planner.  I have been following Mary’s blog Mary Organizes for a long time. She is such a great motivator and encourages you to be more organized. She has great challenges to help you along, right now she has a Keeping House Mini Challenge.

I received the junior size for a three ring binder planner. I wanted something small that I could keep on my computer desk but also take it with me if needed.

The planner has so many great features:

important Dates 2015

page for Birthdays

monthly planning section

weekly planning section

daily planning section

notes

home management

password pages

I have been using the weekly planning pages and I love them. I can plan out my weeks/days, on the bottom of the pages it has home management items to do. (make beds, clean floors, laundry, etc).

I plan on using the daily planning sheets when I have really busy days or a lot of appointments. The notes section will come in handy to write blogging notes/ideas.

The Home Management is awesome, it has cleaning& laundry routine sheet, household checklist and project ideas.

You can order your own Mary Organizes Planner, there are several different planners to choose from. There is also refill pages, covers and accessories you can buy.

Review:

I will be using the Mary Organizes planner daily not only to keep me on track but to remind me of all the things I want to get done. I love all of the different sections this planner has, it really helps to have everything you need in one place. I really need to get on a cleaning schedule to help keep my house clean and the Home Management reminders on the bottom of the pages will help do that. I also have a hard time remembering all of the different passwords I have on all different kinds of websites. I am going to use the password pages to help me keep track of all of them. I highly recommend the Mary Organizes planner and to also follow her blog.

Fulcrum Gallery Review

I have lived in my house for six years and there are still some walls with no pictures or any decor. I can never decide on what I want to put on the walls.

I was excited when I was given the chance to pick put some art from Fulcrum Gallery to review.

Fulcrum Gallery has such a customer friendly website, it very to easy to use, search and complete your order. They have many products to choose from, canvas prints, framed art, art prints, mirrors and photos on canvas. You can also search by styles or artists, that helps you narrow down your choices.

I spent 20 minutes looking through all of the different styles trying to decide which art print I was going to pick then I got to choose the size and which kind of frame I wanted.  I really like all of the Autumn pictures they had.

Here is the picture I chose. It is called Autumn Road.

Review: I was so excited to start looking at all of the picture choices. The website is very user friendly. It took me quite a while to choose just because they have so many great choices. I also like how you can narrow your search by artist or style. Once I found the picture I wanted then I got to choose the size and frame. I love how nice the picture and frame looks. It looks great on my wall and I plan on ordering more art from Fulcrum Gallery.
