I love reading, it is so relaxing. I especially love books that can make me a better person and that inspire me.

I found this great book-Happiness is a Habit by Michele Phillips










This is such a great book, it has 44 simple habits that will help you be happier and your life so much better. Experts say that it takes 21 days to form a habit. The author gives you 90 days, after 90 days add another new habit and continue on.

I want to highlight some of my favorite habits, they are all great.

Habit 10: Guide Your Thoughts All Day Long

To change your life, you must first change your thoughts. It is actually impossible to stay in a bad mood if you keep  flooding your mind with positive, empowering thoughts. If you want to be happy , choose a happy thought, or a happy memory, or envision a happy future, and your whole body will begin to feel happiness and joy.

Habit 11: Have A Clear Vision and Goals

In order to achieve what you want, you must first know what you want, define it, and write it down. You may not be able to change your life overnight but you can definitely change the direction. You cannot affect your past. Stop Looking back. Learn from your mistakes and move on. Set a goal and give it a deadline.

Habit 18: Be Grateful and Celebrate Your Wins

Life will never give you more if you are not grateful for what you have. When you are grateful, you are focusing on what you have, not on what you don’t have. Be grateful for everything, even your problems. Start a grateful journal; every morning or evening you write down three things that you are grateful for. Writing it down just cements it and really makes you realize how much more  to be grateful for than you may have previously thought.

Habit 17: Pay Attention to the NOW-

Living for now and realizing that now is all you have. Take deep breaths that will force you to center yourself and come back to the present moment and to take in your surroundings. Doing one thing at a time will help you be in the moment. Slowing down will help you enjoy and savor the experience.

Habit 36: Take Responsibility for Your Energy-

If you want to be a leader and be in control of your life, you must set the tone and energy level.  Realize that life isn’t about tomorrow, it is about right now, and how you are choosing to use your energy in this moment. You have a choice. Consciously notice the things that bring you joy and then make it a point to keep them in your life on a regular basis. Make a conscious effort to bring positive empowering energy to all your endeavors.


I read this book in less than a month, it was that good. As I read the book I highlighted all of the great tips and ideas in the book so I could quickly go back and read those sections again. The author lists so many great habits that I need to start doing. I have never journaled before but I think it is such a great idea to get your thoughts out and the gratitude journal is such a great idea. It will force you to look at everyday and think about the things you are grateful for instead of always focusing on the bad things that happened that day. She also mentions to give smiles, which is such an easy thing to do but I don’t do it often enough. When you are smiling it is hard to be in a bad mood and it makes other people happy. She also mentions to unplug which I definitely need to do a lot more often. I recommend this book to everyone, people deserve to be happy and Happiness is a Habit will help you learn to be happier.
