Being pregnant for the first time is one of the most interesting feelings your body will ever experience, and possibly one of the scariest times.  Being a new mother brings along with it an overwhelming sense of responsibility, and some new mothers have trouble feeling comfortable.

Your mind wanders into the strangest of circumstances, when you aren’t sure how to properly care for your pregnant body.  Give yourself a little peace of mind, and read through a brief summary of a few tips to keep you and your baby safe during your pregnancy.  

Wearing a seatbelt in your vehicle

It’s against the law to ride around without your seatbelt, and it’s not safe for you or the baby.  Wear your seatbelt properly while you’re pregnant.  The most danger occurs when pregnant women wear their seatbelts improperly or not at all.  

Another great way to alleviate your worry about the seatbelt in your vehicle is to drive safe.  The first trimester of your pregnancy is when the fetus is most vulnerable to trouble. Protect yourself, but don’t get weirded out about the pressure of the seatbelt on your stomach.  

Stay away from chamomile

Drinking a small amount of chamomile tea to relax after your first trimester is fine, but don’t go overboard.  Chamomile tea has been labeled as an abortion-inducing substance for some women.

It’s best not to take the chance of damaging your baby, and skip out on the chamomile bedtime tea.  If you’re a huge fan of the drink, just make sure to give your baby time to develop. Don’t drink the tea until after the first three months of your pregnancy.  

Seek medical attention immediately if you feel something is off

If you truly feel like something is terribly wrong with your baby, it’s always best to see a doctor.  You can at least make a phone call to your primary care physician, and make sure there’s no need for alarm.  

Don’t take chances when it comes to having a child growing in your body.  This isn’t the time to tough it out, so don’t worry about “bothering” your doctor with questions.  

Eat healthy and drink plenty of water

It may seem like a no-brainer, but eating healthy is even more important when you’re eating for two.  Your baby eats everything you eat, so it’s vital to plan out a healthy dietary regimen.

Water is also a very important element of a healthy pregnancy.  Staying hydrated keeps your baby hydrated, and facilitates healthy growth of your family’s new edition.  

Keep exercising through your pregnancy

If you were wondering about exercising during your pregnancy, the answer is simple.  Your baby won’t be harmed from a light workout regimen a few days a week.  If you have a high-risk pregnancy, you may want to talk to your doctor about what is safe for your specific situation.
